Mexico Matters

The UKTI needed someone to make a presentation about logistics at their recent Mexico Matters Seminar in London, global freight forwarder and Mexico shipping experts, Tuscor Lloyds, was the obvious choice. The company sent Aman Chabra who was the branch director of Tuscor Lloyds in Mexico for 5 years and knows the pitfalls but has also experienced the rewards.

UK Trade and Investment (UKTI) is a governmental body that exists to help companies based in the UK to expand and succeed in international markets as well as encourage overseas businesses to view the UK as a viable global partner. The UKTI has business ambassadors in the majority of countries around the world offering advice on how best to trade in those countries.

Tuscor Lloyds is currently working to join the UKTI Advisors Network, which groups together businesses with expertise in export and import to share their knowledge with new or existing companies who wish to expand into the international market.

As part of the company’s commitment to the UKTI, Aman gave a presentation on cross dock, distribution, warehousing and transport security and other related information on importing into Mexico. The presentation was attended by company executives representing a cross section of the UK’s business community; including major retailers, infrastructure providers and manufacturing firms.

Aman’s expertise in import and export for Mexico comes from his years as director of the Tuscor Lloyds office in Mexico City. During his tenure in Mexico, the company grew their Atlantic lanes significantly. New offices were established in the port city of Veracruz as well as on the Pacific coast at Manzanillo. The company now holds accounts with Mexico’s largest companies, including major supermarket chains, fashion retailers, key energy suppliers, and large civil infrastructure providers. In 2010 the firm carried over 8000 container units (TEU) via Veracruz and Altamira ports alone.
